The Cost Engineer role is pivotal in the Automotive Components Development Process. Working closely with the Engineering, Purchasing departments, the Cost Engineer will determine the cost impact of proposed design direction/changes for vehicle programs, from early program conception through to production.

This is an opportunity to make your mark in the exciting and continuously changing landscape of the automotive components industry.
- Become component cost and pricing expert for electrical systems and related parts
- Provide independent cost estimates to determine investment and piece cost impact of future model program designs
- Work with cross functional project teams to drive 'design to cost' focus and evaluate cost impacts of design alternatives
- Identify cost reduction opportunities, participate in cost reductions teams, undertake component teardown and benchmarking
  activities
- Support the Design Concept Process with cost analysis for automotive components line teams
- Represent Cost Engineering and channel ideas and input to cross-functional work groups as required
- Promote cost-conscious culture cross-functionally through diligent design change proposal reviews

Qualifications

Required Skills:
- 3+ years experience managing cost and pricing within a manufacturing operation
- Experience working on cost components, bringing a specific product to market
- Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated commitment to teamwork and partnerships
- Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to network and collaborate
- Demonstrated customer focus and pro-active approach to issues
- Highly proficient Personal Computer skills and technology driven
- Ability to work autonomously, work to deadlines and to multi-task
- Ability to undertake international and domestic travel
- BSE, BS in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Materials
  Engineering

Preferred:
- Experience in the engineering and/or manufacturing automotive electronic and electrical components
- Experience in financial analysis, business principles and/or exposure to cost estimating
- Knowledge of automotive electrical components development processes
- Knowledge of Total Cost Management (TCM), Total Ownership Cost (TOC), Cost as an Independent Variable (CAIV), and Life
  Cycle Cost Estimates (LCCE)
